About Angie Carraway

I am a fifth generation, Hispanic Texan and I’ve called Collin County home for the past 20 years. My husband and I have been married for 29 years and together we’ve raised four children who continually shaped the way I see the world. I grew up as a military brat as one of four siblings in a family that moved wherever duty called. My dad served in the United States Marine Corps for 13 years so my childhood was spent living in different parts of the country, but Texas was always home.

My young working career started in hospitality: waiting tables, opening restaurants, and teaching others to do the same. Once I started to have children I spent 10 years as a stay-at-home mom and during that time I was able to finish my degree. I earned my BA in sociology with a minor in history, followed by a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction. Those studies deepened my understanding of people, communities, and the systems that shape our everyday lives. I’ve spent the past 14 years as a public-school teacher.

A career that grew out of a calling I felt as a young child. Teaching has always been in my nature whether I was helping a sibling, a classmate, or later my own children, I’ve always found myself drawn to helping others learn and understand the world around them. Today, that commitment continues to guide me. My journey from military bases to Collin County classrooms has shaped the person I am today at my core. I’m someone who believes in service, learning, and the power of community to uplift and support one another.
