Before you go

Bring what
you need.

Texas has specific voter ID rules. If you do not have an approved photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one, there may be another path to cast a regular ballot.

Accepted photo ID

  • Texas Driver License
  • Texas Election ID Certificate
  • Texas Personal ID Card
  • Texas Handgun License
  • U.S. military photo ID
  • U.S. citizenship certificate with photo
  • U.S. passport book or card

No approved photo ID?

If a voter does not possess an approved photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one, Texas permits a supporting form of ID—such as a utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or voter certificate—together with a Reasonable Impediment Declaration.

Read the official rules before voting; individual circumstances matter.
