About Holly Taylor
With over 25 years of experience in criminal law, Holly Taylor is running to serve on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (CCA) – the state’s highest court for criminal cases, vital guardian of Texans’ constitutional rights. Holly has the experience and values needed to serve on the CCA. She is Board Certified in Criminal Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has fought for justice in hundreds of criminal cases – from misdemeanors to serious felonies like sexual assault, child abuse, and murder.
Holly has argued before Texas trial and appellate courts and the CCA, and she has litigated cases in the U.S. Supreme Court. Holly has served as the Director of the Public Integrity and Complex Crimes Division and Assistant Director of the Civil Rights Division at the Travis County District Attorney’s Office, where she has led teams that investigate corruption, protect civil rights, and ensure accountability under the law. She is passionate about her work with the Conviction Integrity Unit, which reviews wrongful conviction claims and seeks justice for the innocent and wrongfully convicted.
Holly brings unique insight into the CCA’s inner workings. She is the only person to have ever served as the CCA’s Rules Attorney. She also previously served as a staff attorney for the CCA and was a member of the CCA’s Rules Advisory Committee. Holly will bring a highly qualified and principled voice to the CCA. She is committed to a justice system that is independent, fair, and grounded in the Constitution and rule of law. Holly was born and raised in Houston and lives in Austin, where she and her husband have raised their four kids.
She earned her B.A. from Rice University and both her J.D. and Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.
