About Mihaela Plesa

State Representative Mihaela Pleșa serves House District 70 in Collin County, where she has quickly become one of the most effective and hardworking voices in the Texas Legislature. The first Democrat to hold this suburban North Texas seat in a generation, Rep. Pleșa is now 2–0 against Greg Abbott and the Texas GOP in what has become the most competitive district in the state. In just her first session, she was named Freshman of the Year, and this year she was honored as Texas Woman Democratic Lawmaker of the Year.

Educators across North Texas also recognized her leadership, naming her the ATPE Region 10 Lawmaker of the Year for her steadfast support of public schools and the professionals who serve in them. Her colleagues in Austin further affirmed her leadership by electing her Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, where she helps guide the caucus’s strategy and priorities. Rep. Pleșa has passed major bipartisan legislation that is now Texas law, including bills to protect children and families, improve public safety, and support veterans. She led the first increase in Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) funding in a decade, delivering a $10 million boost for children with developmental delays and disabilities and the families who rely on these services.

As Vice Chair of the House Pensions, Investments & Financial Services Committee and a member of the Elections Committee, Rep. Pleșa fights every day for fair maps, free and fair elections, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and a Texas economy that works for working families—not just the well-connected. Whether she’s passing bipartisan bills in Austin or beating back extremist attacks at the ballot box, Rep. Mihaela Pleșa is proving that strong, principled, pro-democracy leadership can still deliver real results for Texas families.
